Pro Bono
Our Objectives
We are committed to furthering the development of Pro Bono opportunities in Leeds, both through
our own endeavours, work in conjunction with Leeds Community Foundation www.leedscommunityfoundation.org.uk
and also supporting National Pro Bono week.
Pro Bono work is something Leeds JLD aims to make fun and sociable as well as allowing Leeds
JLD members to give something back to the community and develop skills. We hope as many of
you as possible will get involved.
National Pro Bono Week
Each year, National Pro Bono Week celebrates the ever growing scale and impact of pro bono work
by lawyers, law students and other professionals and provides opportunities for even more people to
get involved.
There are a huge range of ways in which professionals freely give their time and expertise to help those
whose needs would otherwise remain unmet and pro bono helps to ensure access to justice for
thosewho do not qualify for legal aid and who are unable to pay for help.
National Pro Bono Week therefore highlights the pro bono contributions made through public
legal education and partnerships which support the crucial work of those agencies which are
the first port of call for people looking for help with problems.
