Winter Sports League - netball and badminton

We are looking for people to join mixed netball and doubles badminton teams to play

in the JLD Winter Sports League to start in the New Year. Everyone is welcome and

no previous experience of either sport is required. It's a great way to start the New

Year with a bit of fun and exercise!

Once all games have been played, there will a prize for the winning netball and

badminton team.

Dates and venues are to be confirmed. Please email Amy Wright,

awright@levisolicitors.co.uk if you fancy getting involved.

Leeds JLD Squash Ladder

Another way to fight off the post winter blues and burn off that extra helping of Christmas pudding
is by joining the Leeds JLD squash ladder. The ladder(s) will start early in the new-year and we
are looking for members who are keen to get involved. Whether you have never played before or
if you are a demon around the court all abilities are welcome.

If you are interested in playing please contact Tom Dennis at TDennis@lawblacks.com

Abbey Dash

Early on Sunday, 22 November 2009, the JLD team successfully completed the Abbey Dash, a 10km
race around Leeds.

With a biting wind and overcast sky, getting up on Sunday morning for a 9.30am race start time was
not the most attractive of propositions. However, this did not phase the determined JLD team.
Everyone turned up with unfaltering enthusiasm and surprisingly good humour for this time on a Sunday
morning.

The race itself was along the roads up to the Abbey in Kirkstall and then back again. The JLD team
lined up at the start in the optimistic sub 45 minute group. There was a ten second countdown
and we were off! After a short walk to the start line due to the congestion most people were hoping
that this pace would continue. However, the crowds soon dispersed and we were under way. Everyone
pushed hard did themselves proud.

Particular highlights were Leo "speedster" Jones-Rowe flying off and completing the race in a blistering
40 minutes 41 seconds. Also Heidi Sandy coming in first for the females, with a time of 48 minutes and
10 seconds. The biggest highlight was that all team members came in under 55 minutes which is a
great achievement and was just reward for the training and hard work everyone put in on the day.
Go team!

All the entry money went to Help the Aged and some individuals also raised extra funds for charitable
causes.

All in all a great day out and some money was raised for a very good cause. Congratulations to the
JLD team which consisted of Matthew Tighe, Natasha Whiddon, Heidi Sandy, Grace Cowling,
Leo Jones-Rowe, James Ruane, Joe Bonner, Richard Dale, Sarah Nichols, James Falkingham,
Samuel Hill, Laura Heaton, Oliver Turner and David Bradley.
