Choose your Leeds JLD Committee for 2023

Hello everyone!

I am Chloe Kershaw, and I am currently a Conveyancing Assistant at Blacks Solicitors. I would like to apply for the position of Events Officer for 2023 because I would be delighted to be a member of the JLD Committee and understand that this position is perhaps one of the most sociable of them. Having spoken with the current events officer Anna Schiavetta and having attended the JLD Winter Ball I appreciate the work that the JLD Committee dedicate to Junior Lawyers in Leeds, and I would love to be part of a such a close knit and hardworking team.

I have recently graduated from university and feel as though my youthful approach and outlook will contribute well within this position as I already have many exciting ideas about future events for Leeds JLD. I respect how this position allows you to bring your own ideas forward, as I know Anna has previously with her Wine & Cheese night (that was a success!), because as an attendee of many networking events I feel as though I have been able to grasp what people from a variety of companies prefer having mentally collated feedback from many of the events.

I want to become a member of the JLD Committee as I know it will allow me the opportunity to get to know more people and build my own network within which as a very outgoing and sociable individual already, I am certainly excited for. After also speaking with current chair Ellie Stansfield, I understand that being a member of the JLD Committee can give rise to a multitude of opportunities outside of Networking whether that be confidence building to building transferrable skills but most importantly that it give you a great sense of reward; by knowing that you have been part of such a hardworking committee that has delivered educational and networking opportunities as well as purposeful training that junior lawyers across Leeds will have benefited from or felt supported by.
