Choose your Leeds JLD Committee for 2023
FELT/IN-HOUSE OFFICER:
CORDELIA STEPHENS
I am writing to apply for the FELT Officer position.
I am a trainee solicitor at LCF Law and the firm take on up to eight trainees a year.
Throughout my time as a paralegal and trainee at the firm, I have organised a number of events such as the firm’s Next Generation Networking Event, Summer BBQ and a number of charitable fundraising events. The FELT role really resonates with me as I am an active member of the firm’s Social Committee and team leader for the Charity Committee. I currently plan and organise the firm’s fundraising events and I have been able to coordinate events that appeal to a variety of audiences.
By working at a small to medium-sized regional firm, I appreciate some of the difficulties and challenges young legal professionals face when attending larger scale events and networking. I believe I can add value here by being an approachable, friendly and down-to-earth individual who can make junior legal professionals feel comfortable and relaxed at events. I will listen and ask the right questions to find out exactly what information and engagement smaller firm legal professionals are looking for. I will also complete post-event feedback to identify potential areas for improvement and development. I am confident that I possess the creativity, organisational and outgoing personality required to bring events to fruition from the planning process to implementation.
Overall, I will bring a positive and proactive approach to the role of FELT Officer. I would be delighted to arrange a variety of events on behalf of the JLD for junior legal professionals working in small to medium size law firms.
