Nicole Natur- Ramsdens

I am an NQ Employment Solicitor at Ramsdens Solicitors. At the moment I am predominately home based, however, I am officially based between our Leeds office and head office in Huddersfield. I am keen to increase my professional network and involvement in the local business community and I am hopeful that joining the LJLD will provide more opportunities to get involved.

I would like to raise the profile and visibility online of the LJLD further and encourage more junior lawyers to join by illustrating the benefits of being a member. Joining a new group can be daunting, especially when you don’t know anyone, so I would aim to highlight all the LJLD’s activities and give them a social voice to allow for more engagement and interactions online.

I have a solid understanding of social media, and have had extensive experience of running various professional accounts for different departments across Ramsdens, including the Ramsdens Trainees Instagram account. Currently, I am actively running the employment twitter account (@RamsdensEmploy) and my professional accounts on LinkedIn and Twitter. I regularly present at our teams webinars and have authored numerous blogs and articles which are regularly featured on the Ramsdens website (as a ghost writer). In addition, I am an active networker and participate in marketing and CSR for the firm and regularly work closely with the marketing team at Ramsdens.

The last eight months have showed just how important having an authentic and genuine social media presence can be, allowing people to stay connected, feel supported and visible albeit virtually during Covid-19. Social media has definitely bridged the gap left by our in-person interactions.

I intend to apply my experience running various social media accounts to present a professional yet engaging side to the LJLD and ultimately increase social media following and membership numbers.

Haiqa Baig of Barton Legal

My name is Haiqa Baig and I am a trainee solicitor at Barton Legal Limited, applying for the role of Publicity Officer.

My aspiration to become the Publicity Officer for the Leeds Junior Lawyers Division, arises from my interest in marketing, and promoting organisations and events to others, whether that is online, on paper, via social media or in person. I am interested in the creative and innovative aspects involved, which enable an organisation to reach its full potential.

During my time at university, I was responsible for hosting and promoting a weekly radio show. I have also been exposed to these areas at my current work place, where I am responsible for planning, organising and promoting the monthly webinars and newsletters, developing relationships with presenters and authors, generating new ideas for the website and drafting posts and managing the firm’s social media.

Both my academic and extracurricular experiences have given me the requisite skills, including creative, innovative and organisation, to be a successful Publicity Officer. This in addition to my positivity and enthusiasm tremendously assists my suitability for this role, and will enable me to contribute towards the success of the organisation.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Danielle Hutchison of Ramsdens

I am a first year trainee at Ramsdens and I have always had an extremely keen interest in promoting the firm through social media channels since I started at the firm as a paralegal 3 years ago.

I would love to be part of the JLD committee as I am always keen to meet new people, particularly other junior lawyers like myself. As a confident and outgoing individual, I enjoy attending networking, training and social events for my team and then sharing them via our social channels,  so I would love to expand this and to assist promoting these events on a larger scale. I think now is a more interesting time than ever to become involved given the current circumstances, which brings about opportunities for innovation for new virtual events and socials and increases the need for the marketing promotion of JLD.

Being online and visible (especially during this time) is so important so I always find the time to be online, stay connected and share content as well as liking, commenting, and re-tweeting as engagement with others is crucial.

With regards to Social Media experience, I have run the Ramsdens Family Twitter account (@RamsdensFamily), along with my own Ramsdens twitter account (@D_Hutchison1) for over two years. I keep the accounts updated with the firm’s latest news and understand the need for engaging, interesting and varied content on social media channels. I feel that it is important for the firm to come across as professional but personable and try to show this in the content we share on social media.

I am also currently looking at how we can use our Trainee Instagram page (@Ramsdens_Trainees) to further our reach and engagement and ultimately promote the firm. I attended a training event (pre-lockdown) hosted by Social Progress on how Instagram can be used to benefit businesses. I have also attended training on Linked In and the use of social media generally to promote the firm.

I regularly write blogs to be posted on the firm’s website and understand the need for these to be topical and relate to what is going on in the world currently as well as obviously being informative and interesting. I would therefore enjoy writing press releases and updating the JLD website with updates and news often in order to keep it up to date.

I have collated information for our internal monthly newsletter since I started at the firm and this is something I enjoy doing as it means I can catch up with everyone in the team before sending all our news with the marketing department who I work closely with and therefore have an understanding of the need for marketing and promotion and have lots of fresh ideas to put into practice.

I am very excited at the prospect of being a member of the JLD committee and sharing ideas to increase promotion, marketing and engagement virtually through social media channels.

Thank you for taking the time to read my application.
