EVENTS OFFICER:
LILY EVANS
I would like to apply for the position of Events Officer on the JLD 2026 committee. Having attending a vast number of events over the past few years, I have seen first-hand how impactful these are at helping junior lawyers with building connections, that otherwise may never have been made. These events create a sense of community, shared experiences and help build confidence. The opportunity to contribute to this work with the Junior Lawyers Committee and help plan events to bring members together is something I am very enthusiastic about.
In my role within a barristers’ chambers, I have organised a broad range of both internal and external events, including client-focused, chambers socials, training sessions and networking events. This experience has given me the ability to strengthen my organisational abilities, and ability to coordinate effectively between multiple groups of people from venues and caterers to clients and colleagues. I am familiar managing logistical challenges and planning ahead to ensure the smooth running of the event. I believe these skills alongside my experience, would assist me well in the role as Events Officer.
I have been really impressed by the work of the current Events Officer, Macy Wynn, whose organisation, creativity and attention to detail have contributed to the success of the past few year’s events, including numerous sell-outs. Having attended many of these, I have seen first-hand how engaging and well-structured these have been. I would be committed to continuing Macy’s success by maintaining high standards and ensuring continuity as the committee moves into 2026. I would aim to uphold the same standard of events while introducing my own ideas and suggestions from members.
Having attending many JLD events myself, I have a clear understanding of what members enjoy and hope to take away from these events. I would actively seek member input to ensure the events remain relevant inclusive and reflective of member interests. My aim would be to keep events that align with members wants while keeping the same welcoming and enjoyable structure.
I am naturally confident and approachable, and I enjoy helping people feel included. I think these qualities would support a warm and engaging event environment. I understand the importance of teamwork and would work closely with the wider committee, sponsors and venues to deliver successful events throughout the year. I would be committed to contributing consistently and reliably to the work of the whole committee.
