Hi, I’m Leigh and I’m the Treasurer for the Leeds JLD. I am also a solicitor in the Private Wealth & Succession team at Schofield Sweeney.
My job largely involves dealing with complex Wills and trust structures (lifetime planning) for high net-worth clients, as well as dealing with complex estate administration, deputyship administrations as well as trust administration. The work in my department is very varied, and no two matters are the same.
What made you want to get involved with the LJLD Committee?
Having been a member of the Leeds JLD for a number of years as a trainee and NQ, I really wanted to get involved and be a part of what makes the Leeds JLD so great. Having spoken to a few people already on the committee at the time, getting involved with the committee was a great opportunity to meet new people in the legal profession at a similar level to me and develop those key networking skills (as well as making friends for life).
What does your role require you to do?
My main role is being responsible for the financial side of the Leeds JLD. This includes producing and settling invoices for the many events we run throughout the year, managing our annual budget and generally dealing with any financial queries.
I am also responsible for managing memberships. I produce the bulk invoice memberships for firms, and update our membership list with new members!
